INVITATION: Food Sharing Workshop

Back by popular demand, this spring’s Food Sharing Workshop will be held on Saturday, May 21st from 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM at the Brentwood Darlington Community Center (7211 SE 62nd Avenue, 97206).  Join us for a day of hands-on learning about all things related to food.  Choose from one of five interactive projects to engage in for the morning.  We’ll come back together as a group to share experiences and have a delicious lunch.  You can view a video of the Food Sharing Workshop 2009 to get a flavor for this event. Topics for this year’s workshop include: 

Seed Cycle - growing starts from seed to seed saving
Kombucha & Herbal Teas - skills for growing & home-brewing tea
Householding Talk - calculate & plan your food stores
Fruit Production - growing, pruning & harvesting fruits
Container Gardening - maximizing food production in small spaces

INVITATION: Tools for Community Building

Community Outreach is hosting an ongoing workshop series, Tools for Community Building.  Please join us the second Thursday of each month in the Our United Villages (OUV) Conference Room (3625 N Mississippi Avenue, 97227) from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM for any of these skill-building workshops.  You will walk away with tools and strategies for enhancing your own neighborhood or community projects.

Hosting a social gathering to showcase the history of a place

June 9 | Survey and Canvassing Tools
Conducting a door-to-door survey to assess community interest

July 14 | Asset Mapping
Taking inventory of the assets and resources in your community

August 11 | Event Logistics
Planning and orchestrating a community event

September 8 | Community Conversations
Facilitating an event for building relationships and exchanging ideas

October 13 | Idea Development Planning
Developing a project idea and identifying steps to turn it into action
